The stone got its name back in the 16th century due to its fluidity. From Latin, fluor is translated as "fluid".
The fluorite mineral has been used by mankind for many centuries. In Ancient Rome, vases made of this mineral were highly valued. But then it was called differently - murine. And the cost of such things was commensurate with the price of gold items. Not a single vase has survived, we can judge their beauty only from the descriptions in the works of Pliny the Elder. In Saxony, miners called this stone an ore flower for its unusual color. Objects and jewelry found in the Czech Republic are more than 100 centuries old.
