The Atlantes of Tula are four anthropomorphic figures belonging to the Toltec culture, located atop Pyramid B in the archaeological zone of Tula, Hidalgo State, Mexico, also known as Tollan-Xicocotitlan. They measure just over 4.5 meters in height and are carved from assembled basalt blocks. They represent Quetzalcoatl as the "Morning Star" (Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli), dressed as a Toltec warrior, with a butterfly pectoral, an atlatl, darts, a flint knife, and a curved weapon that is characteristic of warrior representations from this culture. Initially they held the roof of the temple located at the top of the pyramid, hence the name Atlantes.
